Gun Show Report For Reno

I went to Crossroads of the West gun show in Reno today and yesterday. Saturday was very busy, about 1000 people standing in line before the doors open. I was near the front of the line so I was able to enter and watch where the people headed. Almost half the people thru the door shot straight to the ammo dealers, in about 10 minutes after the doors open the wait to buy ammo was about an hour. The prices are about 20% higher this time around since the last show back in the fall. I did notice more people selling assault weapons this time around starting around $1200 for a basic AR15 like a bushmaster. Assault weapons with all the goodies are going for $2500 and up.

The second day was less busy, and all the ammo was basically gone except bulk .223 and some of the higher end ammo like 40 S&W thru 45 long colt. I was looking to buy some 50AE, got the last box for $25. I dont think they even had any S&W 500 at all this time around. I also visited Sportsman Warehouse, Cabelas and few local stores on Saturday. The ammo shelves are mostly bare; all ammo .22 thru .380 is gone. Nothing to buy not even the high end ammo.

:signs14: No Ammo

Who needs a $2500 Rifle when a 2-foot strand of piano wire works just fine?

...... except for bulk?? Is there any other way to buy it?

Also, what is an "assault weapon"? $2500 for a select fire anything is cheap.

So, What are the rules/customs like for person to person sales at gun shows in Nevada?

That assumes that the alleged "assault weapon" meets the real definition, not the media definition. An intermediate caliber (.223, 5.45x39, 7.62x39 or thereabouts) select fire weapon - not just something that looks mean & eeeevil.

You know - sort of like a "Battle Rifle." Ooooh! Sounds pretty impressive, right? Until you have folks calling their AR15 or SKS or AK-clone a Battle Rifle. Sorry, but the way I learned it (from Chuck Taylor, I think), a Battle Rifle is a full caliber weapon shooting a cartridge such as .30-06, 7.62x54R, 7.92x57 Mauser, 7.62x51 or something along those lines.

Then we have the eternal clip-vs-magazine thing.....oh well....

I hear ya Cruffler. That was my tongue-in-cheek point. If full auto say so, dont *****foot around using the terminology of the enemy.

It all depends on how long your arms are... or if you can get someone else to do it for you! :s1:
